In Edo, set in Japan from 1603 to 1868 under the Tokugawa shoguns, players act as daimyo, using samurai to build castles, markets, and houses in Edo (later Tokyo). Each player starts with five samurai, seven houses, one market, and three action cards. Cards offer actions like collecting rice or wood, earning money, or building structures. Players program their actions, moving samurai and completing tasks. Building in cities yields points and money, shared among players present. The game ends when a player reaches 12 points, with endgame bonuses awarded. Edo features separate boards for 2-3 and 4 players.
